The primary emphasis of Pleon is learning through experience on the water. Pleon also provides members with a variety of additional summertime social activities on and off the water. Social events include cookouts, movie nights, dances, Great Day, the Commodore's Ball and Awards Night. Elections for Flag officers are held in August for the following summer. The Commodore and other Flag Officers are on hand each day during the summer, along with the Program Director and instructors to answer any questions that you may have regarding the club and social activities.
Pleon membership is required for everyone participating in Pleon classes (see Join Pleon). Membership is also encouraged for Pleon friends, family and alumni ages 9 -18 who are interested in taking part in other club activities. These include social activities, private sailing lessons and committee membership. Members who are not taking classes are not entitled to store boats or other belongings on club premises, nor to receive coaching support at regattas. Pleon also welcomes sustaining memberships for those not eligible for membership.
