Week 8 Update
August 11, 2017

Hey Pleon!

I can’t believe this is my second to last update of the summer!! It is crazy how fast the summer is coming to an end, but don't worry- here is a lot more Pleon fun to come!

This Week in Review...

Sailor's Ball

Wednesday night was the first ever Sailor’s Ball, and it was a success! Pleon’s under 12 crowd showed up dressed to the nines for a night of dancing, musical chairs, freeze dance, limbo, and freeze pops. A full photo album is available on the Pleon Facebook page. Hopefully this is a new Pleon tradition that will be continued for Pleon’s youngest sailors for years to come. Thank you to the Events Committee for all your help setting and cleaning up!

Wednesday Series Wrap-up

The last Wednesday Series Regatta was this week, see the final results on the Pleon website here!

420 Race Homecoming

The 420 Race Team will return to Pleon for the first time in weeks as their string of back-to-back regattas, from North Americans, to the CJ Buckley, to the Buzzards Bay 420 Championship, to Nationals, comes to an end. They have been sailing hard, and been doing an awesome job. We’re excited to have you back at Pleon!

A look ahead…

  • Lost & Found will be by the gate on Monday!
  • Most class time next week will be spent on club regattas, here is a quick outline of what to expect:

Venture and

Man Trophies

Great Day

America’s Cup

Carlton Trophy

Great Day

Club Champs

Details on each event can be found in the end of summer schedule.

  • The Commodore’s Ball is Monday night, from 7-10 for Pleon sailors 12 and older. Everyone should plan on arriving at Pleon by 6:45 to take pictures, and to insure that we all board on time.
  • Great Day is Tuesday, the under 12 crowd should show up for activities from 9-12, and the over 12 crowd from 1-4. EVERYONE can come participate in the cake contest and cake fight from 12-1. Sailors should bring a cake or a cupcake to contribute. (Allergy warning: try to avoid desserts with nuts, but sailors with severe allergies might be best sitting this activity out!)

Great Day Slip 'n Slide! (2012)

  • Thursday at noon are Club Elections. This is a mandatory event, and will take place on the Grassy Knoll by Eastern Family Sail.
  •  Thursday night is the banquet, at Marblehead High School from 7-9. This is when we award all of our perpetual and other trophies. Plan on bringing a dessert to share!

Thanks for another wonderful week Pleon!

See you Monday,

Commodore Chloe
