Summer 2013 Registration
February 21, 2013

Dear Pleon Parents and Sailors,

It seems hard to believe that we are already getting ready for Summer 2013! The Summer 2013 Brochure and class listings are up on the website under the "Sailing" tab. I encourage you to look at the "Classes" section as well as the "Registration" section.

To download the 2013 Brochure (PDF) click here.

Pleon's summer programs are open to all children who have completed third grade or higher.  The club also offers a two-week Intro-To-Pleon session for eight year olds at the end of the summer as a low-key way to introduce potential new Pleon members to the club and its offerings.  No previous sailing experience or affiliation with other clubs is required.  There will be a variety of four- and eight-week programs, including learn-to-sail, racing, and Sonar sailing options.

Registration will open Monday February 25th at 9:00AM. There is an early bird discount of $100 that will be available to those who register before March 8th.

For questions regarding registration please email me at

Evaluations from summer '12 will be sent to you via email by Saturday. Please take note of the coach recommendation before you sign up for Pleon's 2013 program and again email me if you have any questions.

Thank you!

Please take a moment to read the following blurb about summer housing below

Dear Pleon Families and Friends:

The off-season has had us preparing for yet another great summer at Pleon.  We are in the midst of hiring an exceptional staff of coaches not only locally, but also from New Zealand and other parts of the U.S.   An integral part of that process is matching coaches with volunteer host families for the duration of the summer.  If you are interested in housing a coach, or have any questions about what's involved, we'd love to hear from you.

The requirements are simple. You agree to provide a bedroom, access to a bathroom, breakfast and other occasional meals.  It's helpful to have an extra bike on hand for your coach to get to and from Pleon and around town.  Pleon provides you with a stipend for your participation.

Having hosted a coach last summer I can tell you firsthand that it was great experience for our kids and family, and helped to make what is already a unique program even more special.  Many families forge strong bonds and develop lifelong relationships with the coaches that have stayed with them.

Again, if you are interested in being a host family or have any questions at all, please let me know.  I look forward to hearing from you.
