Pleon Yacht Club will host an information session on Thursday, January 16,
7:00PM at the Gerry 5, 210 Beacon Street, Marblehead, for anyone interested in
the club's Summer youth sailing programs.
Summer programs are open to children who have completed third grade and higher
and provide fun sailing and competitive racing options for youth up to age 18. The club also offers a two-week Intro-To-Pleon
session for eight-year-olds at the end of the summer. No previous sailing experience or affiliation
with other clubs is required. There are a
variety of four- and eight-week Summer programs, including learn-to-sail,
racing, and Sonar sailing options.
16th information session attendees will meet Pleon's new executive director,
Parker Dwyer who takes the Pleon helm after coaching full-time at Coral Reef
Yacht Club in Miami and running Pleon Fall racing clinics for high-school
sailors. Dwyer is a former Boston
College varsity sailor and college team-racing champion, who competed on an
international level in Optimists as a youth and on the 420 national circuit in
and Pleon Commodore Renee Torrie will give a short presentation on the Pleon's programs
followed by a question-and-answer session. Program committee members, club
officers, current sailors and junior instructors will also be on hand.

early February. Anyone interested in Pleon programs is encouraged to sign up
