Pleon 2014 Info Night Jan. 16, 7pm @ Gerry 5
December 29, 2013

The Pleon Yacht Club will host an information session on Thursday, January 16, 7:00PM at the Gerry 5, 210 Beacon Street, Marblehead, for anyone interested in the club's Summer youth sailing programs.

Pleon Summer programs are open to children who have completed third grade and higher and provide fun sailing and competitive racing options for youth up to age 18.  The club also offers a two-week Intro-To-Pleon session for eight-year-olds at the end of the summer.  No previous sailing experience or affiliation with other clubs is required.  There are a variety of four- and eight-week Summer programs, including learn-to-sail, racing, and Sonar sailing options.

January 16th information session attendees will meet Pleon's new executive director, Parker Dwyer who takes the Pleon helm after coaching full-time at Coral Reef Yacht Club in Miami and running Pleon Fall racing clinics for high-school sailors.  Dwyer is a former Boston College varsity sailor and college team-racing champion, who competed on an international level in Optimists as a youth and on the 420 national circuit in high school.

Dwyer and Pleon Commodore Renee Torrie will give a short presentation on the Pleon's programs followed by a question-and-answer session. Program committee members, club officers, current sailors and junior instructors will also be on hand.

Online registration for Pleon summer programs opens February 24 at www.pleon.org with a discount for registering by March 7.  Pleon's Summer 2014 brochure will be available on the Pleon web site in early February. Anyone interested in Pleon programs is encouraged to sign up for email notifications at http://www.pleon.org.  A limited amount of financial aid will be available. Application and program questions may be directed to Executive Director Parker Dwyer at info@pleon.org
