NOTICE OF RACE

Marblehead Junior Race Week, July 25-27, 2011

The organizing authority is the Pleon Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Boston, Corinthian and Eastern Yacht Clubs

1. Rules
The regatta will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012 (RRS), this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions.

2. Changes to the Racing Rules
RRS 40 (Personal Buoyancy) will be changed by adding: "Competitors must wear a Coast Guard approved PFD at all times when on the water."

3. Eligibility
All competitors must be under age 22, defined as not having their 22nd birthday until after December 31, 2011.

4. Classes
4.1 Club 420, 420 Green Fleet, Laser, Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, Optimist (Red, White, Blue and Green fleets), and O'Pen Bic.  Additional fleets may be added at the discretion of the OA.
4.2 The minimum number of entries for any class to receive a start is four (4) boats.
4.3 The number of boats registered for Opti Green and 420 Championship fleets shall not exceed 70 boats per fleet.
4.4 On July 21, competitors in classes that do not have four or more entrants will be notified that their start is canceled, and a full refund of all fees paid will be made to competitors.
4.5 The 420 Green Fleet will use spinnakers, weather permitting.  The race committee may specify no spinnakers based on sailing conditions.

5. Fees
$75 per person prior to June 30 at 11:59pm.
$100 per person July 1 - July 21 at 11:59pm.
$150 per person July 22 - July 24 at 7:00pm.

No refunds after July 14.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided daily (no dinner on  July 27) Regatta T-shirt(s) included.

6. Racing Schedule
Racing each day, July 25, 26, and 27. Harbor Start Monday, July 25 at 12:00 noon following the skipper's meeting. On subsequent days, the Harbor Start gun will not be sounded before 9:30 am. Multiple races planned each day.

7. Entry Deadlines

7.1 All entries must complete the:
> Registration Form,
> the Medical Consent and Waiver of Liability form,
> the Photo Waiver, and
> the Code of Conduct form.

On line registration is available until Sunday, July 24.  Registrations will be accepted in person from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Check-In desk on Sunday, July 24.  Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after 7 pm on Sunday, July 24.

8. Registration and Check-In
8.1 Registration deadline is 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 24. There will be absolutely no exceptions.
8.2 Check in will be at the Pleon Yacht Club on Sunday, July 24 from 4-7 pm and from 8:00-9:30 am on Monday, July 25.
8.3 All competitors must check in to be scored.
8.4 ABSOLUTELY NO BOATS may be dropped off before 3 pm on Sunday, July 24.

9. Housing
9.1 Limited housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Requests for housing must be made by 11:59pm on July 15 and must include a completed Registration Packet including registration fee. Participants with incomplete Registration Packets will not be eligible for housing.  Contact Diane Aikman at jrwhousing@pleon.org for housing information.
9.2  All sailors with confirmed housing must follow the Housing Code of Conduct including arrival at the host family by 7 pm on July 24.  Late arrivals will not be housed and must find alternate accommodations for Sunday night.
9.3   For a list of local Inns and B&B's visit, www.visitmarblehead.com.   Pleon cannot provide housing for parents or coaches.  No camping is permitted on yacht club grounds.

10. Skipper's Meeting
The skipper's meeting will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 25, under the tent.

11. Prizes
Regatta awards will be determined by the size of each fleet.

12. Sailing Instructions
Sailing instructions will be available at check-in.

13. Courses
Courses will be described in the sailing instructions.

14. Scoring
14.1 The Low -Point System will apply.
14.2 Three races shall constitute a regatta.
14.3 If five or more races are completed a boat may exclude her worst score.
