Dear Pleon Families,
The second week of Pleon quickly sailed by!
Highlights of the week:
- The first movie night was a big hit! There was a great turn out to watch The Goonies- an old classic! The optimist sailors kicked off their fundraising by selling candy and freeze pops through out the showing. Thank you to everyone who came and bought candy to help support the new clubhouse.
- ARRR mate, Pirate day on Tuesday was grrrreat! There were many fun costumes including hooks, peg legs, parrots, and patches! Tuesday was also the Manchester and Sandy Bay Optimist regattas! Pleon dominated at Manchester with 20 out of the 26 optimists. Sandy Bay showed great Pleon pride as well as place very well! Congrats to all the optimist sailors who participated!
- The first Wednesday Series races begun in some big breeze! Sailors truly showed their abilities fighting through the wind and waves. Many sailors stuck around for the BBQ and enjoyed some delicious hamburgers, dancing, playing rugby, and hanging out! Don't forget about the BBQ's after the Wednesday races! Everyone is welcome.
- Thursday was the perfect summer sailing day! Not a cloud in the sky and great breeze held all day for some amazing sailing! Thank you to those who took advantage of Sail with or against your parent night! The next one will be July 31st.
- Today is Rockmore Cup! Kids have been very excited all week about the Rockmore Cup traditions. More to come in next weeks newsletter.
Just a few announcements:
* Still looking for housing volunteers for Marblehead Junior Race Week! It is a great opportunity to meet new sailors for different areas. If you have a sailor racing in MJRW, you should be volunteering! Don't miss this opportunity to show others about our great Marblehead hospitalities! Please contact Tracey Myers at traceymyers@comcast.net or (781) 631-2155.
* Notes from Eastern Yacht Club:
- For the safety of children on these busy summer days, when doing pick up and drop offs, you are NOT allowed to cut through the Parking lot of EYC. Please turn left after the Tennis Court One (Ballast Lane) and come around Harbour Avenue. Thank you.
- Eastern Members paying for a dry sail area may only keep private sail boats in the EYC dry sail area. All other boats must be taken out of dry sail area- especially on the grass! If you are not paying for a dry sail spot, please remove your boat from that area IMMEDIATELY!
