Former Commodore Ryan Carney is working for Sail Newport. Ryan also works with Americas Cup Yacht Charters doing lots of racing including Marblehead to Halifax aboard Brigand. He is now preparing to go to Ireland for the J 24 Worlds and was spotted back on Marblehead waters coaching at MJRW.
Ashley Noble & Kristin Altreuter crewed for Brown University at the Nationals, winning B-division. Also watch for Alex Cook who skippered in B-divison for Boston College and Paula Grasberger who crewed in A-division for Tufts University. Former Coach Clinton Hayes is an assistant Coach at Stanford University, respectively.
The Coed Nationals won't tell the full story PYC sailors' accomplishments in college sailing this year. At the Awards Banquet hosted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, Ashley, a past Commodore and Coach of the Pleon Yacht Club, was named an All-American crew. Earlier in the spring, Kristin, Alex, Paula and Ashley were all named to the NEISA All-Conference team.
Each of PYC's college sailors contributed to winning records on their respective teams. Paula crewed for the National Championship-winning Tufts Match Racing Team. Ashley and Kristin helped the Brown Bears win the NEISA Coed and Team Racing Championships, as well as a 3rd place finish at Team Race Nationals and a B-division victory at Coed Nationals. Callie Naughton helped Boston College to multiple victories in women's competition including the NEISA Women's Conference Championship and the Stu Nelson Trophy where she was the winning B-division skipper. As sophomores, Brian Drumm, Michael Drumm and Gram Slattery all sail for Harvard University at the very top level, competing against All-American upperclassmen and winning the Ferrarone Team Race. ,
