Kieran O'Connell grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts where he learned to sail and race at the Eastern Point Yacht Club. Developing a passion for teaching and coaching sailing Kieran has been the Program Director at Eastern Point Yacht Club, Annisquam Yacht Club, and currently lives in Christchurch, Virginia. During the school year, Kieran is the Waterfront & Sailing Director at Christchurch School. Over the past several years Kieran has traveled extensively with the Christchurch team competing in High School regattas as well as C420 events around the country. The C420 team won back to back Triple Crown Titles and back to back CJ Buckley Youth Team Racing National Championships. Kieran's highlight of coaching the Christchurch team came in the Spring of 2019 capping the season off winning the Baker Team Racing National Title.


This will be Mason's 10th year at Pleon. He sailed and competed in both Optis and Lasers and was a junior instructor for the past two years. He is also an avid skier, including competitive alpine racing. Mason is graduating from St. Paul's School in Concord, NH and will attend Colby College in the fall. His favorite thing to do at Pleon is helping young sailors learn the sport while developing a love of the water.

Abi is a student at Tulane University. She grew up in Marblehead sailing Optis and 420s at Pleon. She also worked as a junior instructor at Pleon for two years and then as an instructor at Corinthian YC for a year. At Pleon, Abi sailed on the Opti race team and then 420 race team. In high school, Abi sailed for Milton Academy where she was voted most valuable crew and now sails at Tulane. She is looking forward to summer back at Pleon!
Will is a student at Tulane University studying Economics and Homeland Security. He lives in Marblehead and went to St. John's Prep. He grew up sailing Optis, 420s and Lasers at Pleon where he spent 10 consecutive summers as was a junior instructor for two. Most recently, he coached at Corinthian YC for two summers. Will races Rhodes 19s on Saturdays with his dad and spends most of his time on the water with friends. He is excited to return to Pleon as an instructor and is ready for a great summer!

Kyle Easton recently graduated Hobart and William Smith Colleges and is entering his first year at Roger Williams Law School in the Fall. He grew up racing in Salem sound and raced 420s at Pleon during high school. At Hobart he sailed for all four years and was named an all MAISA skipper and college sailings sportsman of the year his senior year. During those four years he also worked as a 420 race coach at Manchester Sailing Association and Sandy Bay Yacht Club. Kyle is excited to return to Pleon as a coach this year!

Anna is a freshman on the varsity sailing team at Connecticut College. Last summer and fall, Anna coached at NYCC, instructing Optis and younger high schoolers in Club 420 and FJs. She attended Christchurch School for high school where she was a member of the varsity sailing team coached by Kieran O'Connell, competing in 420s. Anna was named VISA all-state crew (6 seasons), VISA all-state women's crew (8 seasons), and was a Baker National Champion in 2019. Anna is excited to spend the summer at Pleon and grow as a coach, leader and sailor.
Luciano is an international, World Sailing certified coach, born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has extensive experience sailing and coaching Optis. This is his seventh summer coaching Opti racing. He has worked at Baltimore Sailing Center, in Ecuador at Puerto Lucia YC and this is his second summer at Pleon. As a sailor, he had the opportunity to race in many international championships including the Opti North Americans in Texas and the South American Championships, where he finished at the top of the rankings. After Optis, Luciano has sailed in different classes such as Cadet, Laser and J/24. In addition to Opti coaching, he works at his family's law firm. Luciano is very happy to return to Pleon this year to teach a sport he loves.
Ryan is a rising junior at the U. of Vermont where he is studying business administration and computer science and is on the sailing team competing mainly in FJs and 420s. Ryan grew up making the trek to Pleon on his bike and progressing through Optis, eventually competing on the 420 race team and working as a junior instructor. Ryan also sailed for the Marblehead HS team which won the state championship his junior year. Outside of sailing, Ryan is an avid skier and will find any excuse to go to the mountains. Last year was Ryan's first summer coaching at Pleon and he is psyched to return!

Meehan is a student at Umass Amherst studying economics and political science. Before attending Umass, he went to and sailed at the University of Vermont. He grew up sailing in Manchester and raced throughout high school. He was an instructor at Manchester Sailing Association for five years and at Sandy Bay for one. Meehan is now excited to continue his passion for coaching at Pleon and looks forward to a great summer!

Tyler is currently a sophomore at the University of Maryland where she sails on the club sailing team. Tyler learned to sail at Corinthian YC and Pleon, racing competitively from a young age and throughout high school on the Marblehead HS Varsity Sailing Team. She was a junior instructor during her time at Pleon and this is her first summer coaching at the club after three years as an instructor at Corinthian. In her free time, besides sailing, Tyler enjoys playing soccer, skiing and running.
Eric O'Connor is a student at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. As a Marblehead native, Eric grew up sailing Optis, Lasers and 420s during his 11 summers at Pleon. At Marblehead HS, Eric was captain of the MHS Sailing Team, helping the team win the state title in 2018. Eric currently sails Lasers out of Lindingo Yacht Club just outside of Stockholm and travels around Sweden to compete on the Laser circuit. His love of sailing is only matched by his love of coaching it and he can't wait to return to Pleon as a coach for the first time this summer!
Anna is a rising sophomore at Connecticut College. Sher grew up sailing Optis, 420s and Herresoffs at Quisset Yacht Club in Falmouth, MA. She was a sailing instructor at QYC for the past three years. Anna sailed for Tabor Academy and skippered for both the women's and coed team. She now races for Connecticut College and sailed on the women's, coed, and team racing teams sailing mostly 420s and FJs. She hopes to get some big boat experience this summer. Anna is looking forward to her first summer at Pleon and can't wait to be part of the team!
Laina Putnam grew up in Marblehead and has sailed at Pleon for close to a decade. She began in the Opti Intermediate class and has represented Pleon on both the Opti and 420 Race Teams. For two summers, she coached many young sailors as a junior instructor, and this past year, she joined the fall coaching staff. Laina also competed on the Marblehead High School sailing team and was elected captain her senior year. This fall, she is excited to study at Tufts University as an International Relations major and crew on the Tufts Sailing Team. Laina is looking forward to another great summer at Pleon!
Hunter is a recent graduate from the College of Charleston where he majored in physics. He spent most of his childhood in Rochester, NY before moving to El Lago, TX for his junior and senior years of high school. He started racing Lasers before moving to the Club 420 and International 420. He was the third-place American boat in the open fleet at the 2016 420 worlds and the 2017 Open Europeans. When not racing the International 420, Hunter raced with his high school team which won the 2015 Keelboat Invitational as well as the 2016 High School Fleet Racing Nationals. In college, he ws named a 2020 All SAISA Crew, and has been an active member of the dinghy team as a skipper and crew. This is Hunter's third season coaching at Pleon.
